The Swedish University’s film club were showing Mission to Mars, a film about a station on Mars that all of a sudden goes silent. A group of astronauts risk everything to get there and what do you think is the first thing they do when they eventually do? Look for survivors? Secure the perimeter? Check out the buildings?
No, none of that. Before anything else they raise the American flag in a patriotic scene that reenacts the raising of the flag in Iwo Jima. The entire audience burst out laughing. It was simply too absurd. The only two not laughing were the two American exchange students.
– What are they laughing about, one whispered to the other.
